Amaretto Flan

This is one of my favorite dessert recipes; a great way to keep fat Intake low and satisfy your sweet tooth.

 5 custard cups/5 portions

1/4 cup of Amaretto liqueur

1/4 cup water

2 Tablespoons sugar

1 1/2 cups 2 % milk

1 cup nonfat egg substitute

1/4 cup maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract or Amaretto liqueur

Preheat oven he 325°. In a small saucepan, combine liqueur, 1 Tablespoon sugar, and 1/4 cup water. Heat 5-7 minutes, stirring,         until the mixture starts to caramelize and thicken. Distribute evenly into five custard cups. Cool custard cups in the refrigerator.

Combine milk, egg substitute, vanilla, and the maple syrup. Carefully fill custard cups with the milk mixture, using a soup ladle or    measuring cup.  Place into a baking pan filled with 1 inch of water. Place baking pan in center of oven.

Bake at 325° F for about 1 hour or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Before serving, invert custard cups on a dessert plate. Serve cold.
