There has been a lot of talk about opioid addiction – who’s to blame, how we treat it, and hopefully how we prevent it.
Can meditation play a role?
Today I bring up this sensitive can of worms. I’m certainly no expert. But there are plenty of experts that are suggesting that meditation, done on a regular basis, can play a role in not only preventing addiction, but treating it as well.
For my literature search, I started with this NIH article.It brings up the effect of meditation on both physical pain and anxiety.

The David Lynch foundation has a website that discusses the treatment of addiction in the prison population and in schools with transcendental meditation.
